7 Most Common Mistakes People Make with Online Marketing Videos – Part #6

online video marketing mistakes 6 postThis is the 6th of 7 videos on how to avoid the common mistakes people make with online marketing videos. This short video is just under 5 mins and contains tips on how to use free online video tools to create powerful, professional, and effective videos without even appearing on camera.  So all of you camera-shy people out there, you no longer have an excuse for not creating online videos for your business.

Mistake#6: Shying Away from the Camera. While it is not a mistake to be camera shy, most people believe that they have to be in front of a camera to create a video. With today’s variety of online tools, this is far from the truth. There are many free online video tools that allow you to create amazing videos without actually being on camera. Here are some of my favourites:

Photo Slideshow Online Tools:

a. Animoto.com & OneTrueMedia.com:  Easily turn your photos and video clips into a professional online marketing video. Just upload your images and short video clips, enter some text, and choose the music from their large library and the rest is taken care of for you.  To learn about how to use Animoto, check out my How to Create a Professional Online Video Using Photo Slideshow Software Animoto video tutorial. You’ll be amazed by the results.

ScreenCasting Online Tools:

b. ScreenToaster.com & Screenr.com: Create instant screencasts, which is basically a video capture of your screen. This can be used to demonstrate an online service, how to fill out an order form, how to subscribe to your newsletter, a walk through of your company website, etc.  You even have the option to upload the screencast directly to YouTube or download it for further editing.

The best part about these online tools is that they all provide you with some HTML code that you can simply copy and paste into your website where you want the videos to appear.

NEW Killer Sales Videos:

c. KillerSalesVideos.com: Combine animated text with powerful music in a movie trailer style of video and you get a Killer Sales Video.  Check out a sample below and you’ll be blown away, it really captures your attention. It’s so simple too.  All you need to do is choose a video template you like, fill out a simple form that indicating the text and images you want to appear in the video (choose a picture of yourself to add the human factor), and in 24 hours you will receive a professional-looking movie that you can upload to YouTube or embed on your private site, blog, or squeeze page. And the best part is that it costs under $100…that’s unreal!

I’ve used the Screenr tool for a videocast. I still have to also get over hearing my voice on these. Also, I realized you have to do your homework and prepare for the speaking/timing of things. But overall, it wasn’t too bad. You can see my first attempt here: http://www.catstonepress.com/catstone_weblog/how_to_utilize_a_catstone_d.html

PS – Feel free to leave any comments on either the video or our publications!

Hi Cindy. Thanks for the fantastic tip! I’ve heard of Screenr before but didn’t realize that it allowed you to download .mp4 files, which is an important feature if you would like to post your videos to other online video sharing sites besides YouTube, or if you would like to post your video privately on your own website.

Your video rocks! Guess what…most people I’ve talked to hate the sound of their own voice, including myself :) Your voice is very sincere and pleasant to listen to. You should consider adding this video to the home page of your website, or possibly consider adding a direct link from your main header to it. It is a brilliant idea to create a video that walks the viewer through your website and services.

Keep up the great works and keep on creating those videos!

Your tutorial prompted me to have one of those Eureka moments – this shy lady could get a video made after all – using your suggested methods I know I can make something very worthwhile for my website.

Thank you so much for sending through the video’s so promptly too when I registered earlier this evening. This was an altogether very productive scan of LinkedIn and I am soooo glad I came across your blog. Now we are connected on the 1st line I will consider you to be a truly ace professional business contact.

Just about to tell all my business friends about your tutorials.

    Very kind regards

You are most welcome Rhianne. I’m so happy that I inspired you to create a video…that’s what it is all about. I know that once you start creating videos, you’ll have a blast and you will get addicted. You may even get so comfortable making videos that your shyness will go away and you might start making an appearance in the video…you never know. Either way I’m really proud of you! You’ve taken a very important step towards growing your business.

Have fun creating online videos and don’t be shy to ask any questions along the way. I am here to help.

    Hi Hani,

I was thoroughly impressed by what I saw and heard.

Till I heard and saw this video I simply did not know that such tools existed.

    Thank you for sharing.

I’m been waiting for a while now wondering just how expensive its going to be to create decent quality videos for placement on a website.

    You’ve got me going.

    Great.

    Regards

  10. Hani says:

    Hi Ivan,

Thank you so much for checking out my videos. It gives me great satisfaction to hear such nice feedback. I really enjoy knowing that I was able to help someone out or at least get them excited about creating online videos! It truly is exciting and addicting.

I checked out your website and I think that these screen casting tools would be an excellent way to add video to your website for free, plus in a very easy fashion. Also the quality of the videos are amazing.

I think this will end up saving you time since I noticed that your tutorials include a lot of screen shots and text, and with video you can achieve the same result more effectively and much faster with less effort.

Your website visitors are going to love you more once you start adding video tutorials :)

Let me know when you have your first one up, I would love to check it out.
